On This Day in Haitian History (“we,” “our,” or “the Site”) is an educational project that publishes daily summaries of past news items drawn from digitized Haitian newspapers.

The Site does not use marketing or tracking cookies. A single session-only cookie may be set by Azure for basic functionality and is deleted when you close your browser.

• Contact Data – kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
• Usage Data – stored only in aggregate form; individual IPs are truncated or discarded within 24 hours.

7. Your Rights

You can, at any time:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Delete your data (“right to be forgotten”).
• Withdraw consent (every email includes an unsubscribe link).
• Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority if you believe we are mishandling your data.

8. Children’s Privacy

This Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it immediately.

9. Security Measures

We use TLS encryption (“HTTPS”) for all data in transit and follow industry best practices to protect data at rest, including access-controlled storage and least-privilege principles for staff accounts.

10. Changes to This Policy

Material changes will be announced on the Site and, where appropriate, emailed to subscribers. Continued use of the Site after such changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
